IS IT POSSIBLE TO BOOK FOR JUST ONE NIGHT?

No, given the isolation of the islands, there's a 2-night minimum. This is the minimum we recommend to really enjoy our piece of paradise and disconnect. Trust us, you'll want to stay much longer on The Haven Islands...

AM I ALONE ON MY ISLAND?

YES, completely alone with no neighbors. The idea behind The Haven Islands is to rent out an entire island, not just accommodation. So you're totally free to go wherever you want on your private island!

HOW TO GET TO THE ISLANDS

In winter, the lake is completely frozen over and the road inaccessible by car. Your adventure therefore begins in the small village of Ytterturingen, where one of our teams will take you safely by snowmobile to your private island after an incredibly beautiful ride of around 40 minutes. In winter, for the more athletic, you can also cross the entire frozen lake by Nordic ski and pulka. In summer, the islands are accessible by car or boat. If you're coming by car, you'll need to park in our forest parking lot, then walk about 500 metres to our landing stage, where your boat will be waiting for you. The boat will then take you to your island in just a few minutes. For those wishing to come by train, the shortest journey is 3h30 from Stockholm station. The journey through the Swedish forests is absolutely magnificent, and immediately puts you in the mood for your future adventure. Your terminus is Ånge station. There are two options here: you can either rent a car to be self-sufficient during your journey, or you can use our private cab service, which costs 50 euros per trip. From Ånge to the islands it's about 1 hour's drive, depending on weather conditions.

ARE THERE ANY RISKS WITH WILD ANIMALS?

ABSOLUTELY NOT! Wild animals hardly ever come to the islands. With a bit of luck, you can observe them on the shores directly from your island or during a hike on the mainland. In most cases, animals avoid humans. In the event of an encounter, you can avoid the slightest risk by following the basic instructions.

WHAT TIME DO I HAVE ACCESS TO MY HOME?

Your home is available from 2pm on the day of your arrival. If you arrive earlier, we cannot guarantee that you will have access. Check-out time is 12 noon maximum. A cleaning charge of 100 euros may apply if the house and island are not left clean and tidy.

WHAT ACTIVITIES CAN I DO ON THE SITE?

First of all, disconnect and relax. You're in a natural paradise with no noise in the vicinity, so make the most of it - it's not every day you get to do so. In winter, you can go snowshoeing or Nordic skiing.  If you bring your skates, you can even go ice skating on the lake. In the evening, weather permitting, enjoy the incredible spectacle of the Northern Lights!  In summer, you can stroll over 300 km of forest as far as the Norwegian border. Of course, all water-based activities such as fishing, swimming, sailing, stand-up paddling etc. are accessible. In summer, the sun hardly ever sets, and you can enjoy the sublime, endless sunsets on your island.

IS THERE A CATERING SERVICE?

Absolutely not! We're in a very remote part of Sweden, and you're completely on your own! The nearest mini-market is a 30-minute drive away in Overturingen, and there's not much choice. The nearest supermarket is in the town of Ånge, about 1 hour's drive away. We therefore absolutely recommend that you stock up on provisions and water before arriving on our islands.

IS THERE DRINKING WATER ON THE ISLANDS?

No, but you do get 10 liters of drinking water per person. So don't forget to bring water if you need more to drink or cook.

CAN WE BRING OUR CHILDREN?

Of course! We accept babies up to two years of age and all children. It will be a real paradise for them - trust us!  However, you'll need to ensure their comfort (sleeping accessories, food, etc.) and safety. There are stoves and fireplaces outside, so parental vigilance is required.

ARE PETS ALLOWED?

YES, at The Haven Islands we are nature and animal lovers! Of course, for reasons of hygiene, pets are not allowed in the rooms or to sleep on the beds and armchairs.

WHAT IS YOUR CANCELLATION POLICY?

All reservations can be changed once, 30 days prior to arrival. No refunds will be made for cancellations. A fee of 75 Euros will be charged for any cancellation or date change. All requests for cancellations or postponements must be made in writing to info@thehavenislands.com, stating the full name of the person making the booking and the date of arrival.

ARE WATERCRAFT AVAILABLE?

Yes, we provide our customers with one boat per island, as well as the additional water safety equipment required. So you can go boating or fishing. Each island also has a stand-up paddle and a kayak for sailing on the lake.

IS IT SAFE TO SWIM IN THE LAKE?

ABSOLUTELY, the water quality is exceptionally pure and the temperature, in summer, rises to around 25°C.

CAN WE FISH?

The lake where our islands are located is considered by Swedes to be probably one of the best fishing spots in Scandinavia! Celebrities such as Zlatan Ibrahimovic come here frequently to practice the sport! In the town of Ange, you'll find a large store specializing in fishing tackle of all kinds!

IS THERE A WELCOME DESK ON THE SITE?

During your stay on our islands, you are completely autonomous. After booking, you'll receive an e-mail with all the information and contacts you need to get to our islands. You'll pick up the keys in the village of Ytterturingen from a member of our team. He or she will be able to answer any questions you may have and help you find your way around.

WILL I HAVE ELECTRICITY?

As we're in the middle of nowhere and on an island, the houses are not connected to the electricity grid. However, each dwelling has solar panels for recharging small appliances such as phones and computers, sunshine permitting.

WILL I HAVE ACCESS TO THE NETWORK?

YES, all the islands are surprisingly well connected to cellular networks. Many of our customers come to the islands to telework in incredible surroundings!

WHAT'S INCLUDED ON SITE?

On each island you will find crockery / sponges / washing-up liquid / salt / pepper / oil / coffee / tea / 10-litre drinking water / gas cooker / gas heater / toilet paper / first aid kit / paddle / boat / hammocks and deckchairs / solar cooker

CAN I COOK OVER A WOOD FIRE?

YES, all the islands have outdoor fireplaces and wood storage. In winter, there's no problem cooking or building a fire to keep warm. In summer, depending on weather conditions and drought, instructions will be given to you before your arrival. As our islands are located in a protected national park, we ask you to take extreme care when building a fire. Fires must not be left unattended and must be extinguished with water after each use. Of course, it's forbidden to cut down any trees. In Sweden, the Forestry Department considers cutting down a tree in a protected area to be a criminal offence punishable by heavy fines and even imprisonment.

WHAT SHOULD I BRING?

Your own food. Please bring your own eco-friendly shampoo, soap and toothpaste. Towels are not included. In summer, as in all northern regions of the planet, there may be mosquitoes. Remember to bring protection. A comforter for chilly people. Sheets are included only for people staying a minimum of 5 days on the island.

CAN WE PARK OUR VEHICLE?

There is a parking area about 500 meters from the islands on the mainland.
